Get used to it.

I probably would have missed this story if a friend didn’t call me this morning on his way to work. We weren’t talking long when I could hear sirens passing him by. He finally mentioned the numbers of police vehicles passing him and seeing heavy smoke in the distance.

Not much information provided in any story I came across this evening about the activity except a Pennsylvania State Trooper was shot in the shoulder and the bad guy ran his car into an empty school bus that burst into flames.

This story is significant as an example of the stresses built into the management of the forces that respond to situations displaying characteristics of a terror attack or possible cartel battle activity brought on by the political designation of Philadelphia as a sanctuary city and the almost immediate impact of that designation as noted in the recently released 2015 DEA/DOJ Drug Threat Assessment (which as far as I know has not received any local Philadelphia coverage, yet).

It also serves as a timely example of the counterpoint raised in the November 19 post about the PA governor’s dangerous and unimaginative reliance on the LEO infrastructure to battle the almost expected domestic terrorist attacks as explained in the Prudence and Perfidy piece.

Not to beat the subject to death but the recent shooting and school bus burning event on 676, and I doubt the bad guys don’t understand this, this event involved a major portion of the LEO’s assets on the street. I think it is safe to assume the number of bad guys far outnumber the professional Good Guys out in the street at any time. I don’t know why these politicians allow their fear of armed citizens to prevent them from organizing a back up readiness force in these days of increasing chaos.

Well, yeah, I do think I know what drives their fear of an armed populous but if they weren’t screwing the citizens on a regular basis there wouldn’t be a basis for that fear, would there?

A lesser observation. One of those articles described the bad guy that was still on the loose as having a tattoo under the left eye. Not very helpful but some general possible conclusions one can reach is that tattoo indicates the individual has likely spent some time incarcerated and/or is Hispanic/Mexican.

I guess it can be coincidence that the aforementioned DEA/DOJ Report recognized Philadelphia as an attractive place for a Mexican cartel to set up shop because there is not as much law enforcement interest here as in their work centers in the Southern part of the U.S. Probably something to do with it being a sanctuary city.

Another riddle to puzzle on.
